Experience

John has been working in community mental health and social services since 2014. In Chicago, IL, he worked with adults and seniors providing support and treatment for their mental health and addiction issues as part of Trilogy Behavioral Healthcare. After moving to Jackson, MS, in 2018, he started working with kids and teens struggling at home and at school as part of Region 8 Mental Health. After leaving that agency, he joined Southern Christian Services as a clinician in their transitional housing program, where he still works to help homeless young adults get stable so they can focus on their future.

John is not afraid of getting into the mess of living life.

Today, he offers counseling to individuals and families. John is down-to-earth and believes therapy is a place for honesty, trust, humor, and compassion. It should be a space where clients can work through difficult or overwhelming thoughts, feelings, and experiences without shame or judgment.

John tailors his counseling to each of his clients, which includes using cognitive-behavioral therapy (CBT), motivational interviewing, solutions focused therapy, internal family systems, narrative therapy, and acceptance and commitment therapy (ACT).

He loves to help people realize the change they want for a better life.

Additionally, he loves to help people work through issues related to the following:

·       Work/career challenges

·       Singleness & dating

·       Relationships

·       Sex

·       Parenting

·       Life transitions

·       Racial & cultural identity

·       Communication

·       Depression
